What impact did your time at WISS have on you?

I would have to say that WISS was a big part of my life growing up abroad. I was a student at WISS for eight years, from age 10 to 18, which are the most formative years of my life. One aspect that formed part of my development was the small, tight-knit community that WISS had. Being part of a caring community really influenced my behavior towards others and contributed to my realization that we are all part of a global community. WISS also offered me many valuable literacy skills, such as essay writing, that have been very useful in my time at university.

What were the highlights of your time at WISS?

There are too many to count, honestly. I really enjoyed the WISS International Days that brought the international school community together as a family. I was also quite involved with ISTA, which was an excellent experience for me. iShare is also a group of people that I really miss. One of the most significant advantages that WISS offers its students is the supportive teachers. I was able to accomplish so much and really develop as a person through the support and individual pathways they provided during my time there.

What are you doing now, and what are your career goals?

am currently in university college Utrecht, studying for my bachelor’s in philosophy and linguistics. As of right now, I do not have any specific career goals. I believe that it is better to do something you enjoy and are passionate about and turn that into a project or career.

So, for now, I will study hard and focus on that, and we will see where that takes me.

What advice would you give to current WISS students as they’re looking ahead to college and careers?

I think my main advice would be to do something you enjoy, to look at university as an opportunity to expand your knowledge and experience. Make good use of the support available from WISS and the knowledge and guidance that teachers have to offer.

What would you tell a parent considering sending their child to study at WISS?

I recommend WISS as a high school for anyone. There is a large international community that only has your best interest at heart. One of the things that always struck me was that I was excited to go to school every day, and you don’t always get that. WISS gives every student opportunity to pursue their interests from Arts to Sports and even Robotics. I cannot stress enough how valuable a full IB education is. It opens a lot of doors for students and, at the same time, offers them the tools to be well prepared to identify and pursue opportunities beyond school.
