In the next edition of our “Greatness Starts With Attitude” series, we introduce Brandon Risenhoover and explore his approach to greatness.

Brandon, who now serves as the Secondary Deputy Principal, didn't start his career in education. In fact, he began in the business world, armed with a degree and a role in logistics. But as he navigated the corporate landscape, he felt a pull towards a different path. His love for history beckoned him, leading him back to the halls of academia to pursue a master's degree. This decision marked the beginning of his transition from the boardroom to the classroom, a move he has never regretted.

Now in his third year at WISS, Brandon's passion for education is evident. But his connection to the school runs deeper than his professional role. As a parent of three children who also attend WISS, he has a personal stake in the quality of education the school provides. He understands firsthand the importance of preparing students for an ever-changing world, a mission that WISS is committed to fulfilling.

To Brandon, greatness is not just about professional success. It's about giving his best to those he works with and the students he serves. It's about making a difference in their lives and contributing positively to their growth. But his definition of greatness extends beyond his professional life. As a father, greatness is about staying connected with his children as they grow and develop.

When his children were younger, Brandon would spend time with them at the park or on short camping trips. These shared experiences provided opportunities for bonding and creating lasting memories. But as his children grew older and their interests evolved, so did his approach. Now, he spends his time learning to play Minecraft and record-hunting with them on the weekends. This adaptability is a testament to his commitment to maintaining a solid connection with his children, regardless of their changing interests.

Brandon's advice to parents is simple yet profound - be a risk-taker. He believes that children need to see their parents taking chances. The world will provide opportunities for our children that will require courage to seize. Having a parent who exemplifies this trait can be a valuable lesson for them.

In the end, Brandon's story is an acknowledgment of the fact that greatness, indeed, does start with attitude. It's about adaptability, taking risks, and, most importantly, staying connected with those who matter most. 拥抱多样性：全球创新学习联盟会议在新西兰奥克兰举行

全球创新学习联盟（GAIL）是一个著名的学校网络，致力于促进教育领域的创新、合作和文化交流。上海西华外籍人员子女学校（WISS）很荣幸成为全球创新学习联盟（GAIL）的成员，并兴奋地宣布将参加即将在新西兰奥克兰举行的全球创新学习联盟会议。此次会议为上海西方国际学校的学生提供了一次难得的机会，他们将在校长 David Edwards 先生、学术与创新部主任 Timothy Pyeon 先生和设计教师 Nwanneka Okwuosa 女士的陪同下，与其他 GAIL 成员学校共同促进多元化发展。
