Celebrating International Think Pink Day

Cancer is a global health concern that affects millions of individuals worldwide. International Think Pink Day serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of raising awareness, educating communities, and supporting those affected by cancer. At Western International School of Shanghai (WISS), this day holds great significance, as it aligns with one of our school's core pillars: Community Service. Through engaging the community and actively participating in the celebration of Think Pink Day, WISS demonstrates its commitment to supporting and empowering the community.

The WISS campus underwent a vibrant transformation, as all staff and students came together to wear pink. This collective gesture not only created a visually striking display but also symbolized solidarity and support for cancer awareness, well-being, and hygiene. By donning pink attire, students learn the importance of standing together as a community while making a positive impact on a global issue.

To actively engage the entire WISS community, various activities were organized on across campus. These activities aimed to educate, entertain, and encourage participation, fostering a sense of unity and purpose. Students, teachers, and faculty participated in events such as pink-themed art activities, health and wellness presentations, and roleplay activities with the Early Years students. Through these engaging activities, WISS fosters a culture of empathy, compassion, and social responsibility among its members.

In addition to wearing pink attire, each student and staff member at WISS received a Think Pink Day sticker and a pink ribbon. These simple yet impactful symbols serve as visual reminders of the cause and further raise awareness within the school community. By proudly sporting these stickers and ribbons, students and staff demonstrate their commitment to supporting cancer fighters and survivors, while encouraging conversations and promoting understanding of the disease.

At WISS, education extends beyond academics. Our four pillars of Academics, Arts, Sports, and Community Service form the foundation of a holistic learning experience. International Think Pink Day perfectly aligns with our Community Service pillar, as it encourages active involvement, empathy, and compassion towards others. By emphasizing the significance of this day, WISS ensures that its students understand the importance of making a positive impact on society and the world around them.

拥抱多样性：全球创新学习联盟会议在新西兰奥克兰举行

全球创新学习联盟（GAIL）是一个著名的学校网络，致力于促进教育领域的创新、合作和文化交流。上海西华外籍人员子女学校（WISS）很荣幸成为全球创新学习联盟（GAIL）的成员，并兴奋地宣布将参加即将在新西兰奥克兰举行的全球创新学习联盟会议。此次会议为上海西方国际学校的学生提供了一次难得的机会，他们将在校长 David Edwards 先生、学术与创新部主任 Timothy Pyeon 先生和设计教师 Nwanneka Okwuosa 女士的陪同下，与其他 GAIL 成员学校共同促进多元化发展。
